40 Bow Street
Originally built in 1880, 40 Bow Street is a contributing structure in the Harvard Square Cambridge Historic District. The project involved the painstaking restoration and repair of the building's historic architectural detailing, much of which was either non-existent, severely compromised or buried beneath vinyl siding. PRA also led the renovation of the interior to provide three levels of market-rate rental housing. The units offer a sleek, contemporary design and meet current expectations for energy efficiency and comfort. The mixed-use building also underwent extensive upgrades to the ground floor and basement to support a future restaurant or retail tenancy in the historic storefront in this highly visible section of Harvard Square.
